Watering the lawn is necessary, and we tend to use a huge amount of water for this task. A beautiful and healthy lawn would naturally give us the impression a big amount of water has been used to care for it. But as environment consciousness arises among us, we get to think about conserving more water and not wasting it. This is especially so when water is a scarce resource in your area. Many areas in the country also experience drought or near-drought conditions so water conservation becomes a necessity.

The news is always buzzing with information about renewable energy and how it is becoming increasing popular. What is renewable energy exactly? The actual definition of renewable energy is any form of energy that does not “run out,” and is sustainable. Solar energy is renewable energy. Wind and water energy is as well. Even the geothermal energy found deep underground is referred to as renewable energy. These forms of energy are not exhaustible and are abundant in nature. Fossil fuels, on the other hand, are not renewable and can eventually be exhausted.

Home heating prices are lower than they were in 2007 but we cannot be sure how long that will continue. I had to investigate ways to use less home heating oil. I could not continue to put home heating oil on my credit cards. A few of my home heating oil bills in the winter of 2007 were over $900.00 each. In my research I found that saving money by conserving energy was much easier than I thought it would be. I used one less tank of oil last winter.

Dawn Lippert of Hawaii Renewable Energy Development Venture gives an introduction to what HREDV is all about at the Tech Enterprise Conference in Hawaii, June 2010.
Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water… Sharks can be scary to encounter when swimming in the ocean. But they are not the most dangerous threat one can face at the beach. A new study from the University of Miami suggests that microbes in the water should be of much greater concern, especially in warmer waters. The team found that swimmers at sub-tropical beaches face an increased risk of illness.

Low Flow Fixtures
Now days, all faucet fixtures for residential plumbing are low flow devices.
While low flow fixtures do aid in water conservation efforts, they can be a bit inconvenient. They don’t save you water if you are filling a pot, getting a glass of water or where a measured volume of water is to be had.
They can be a nuisance when you have to wait and wait for the sink to fill with water, or if you are trying to get hot water to the faucet.

A video comparing nuclear energy to renewable energy, and comparing the various practical drawbacks to implementing these technologies on a large scale. I hope it’s clear why I say there is no silver bullet, and why we can’t rely on any single technology–nuclear OR renewable–for our energy generation. I also added a fun little segment at the end for a particular Youtube user–you know who you are.
A century ago an astronomer by the name of Lowell “discovered” the canals of Mars. Since then better images has shown that there are no canals. Now a camera aboard NASA’s Mars Odyssey spacecraft has helped develop the most accurate global Martian map ever. Researchers and the public can access the map via several websites and explore and survey the entire surface of the Red Planet and imagine what it might be on the surface.

Do you want to learn how to build wind electric generator with a wind power do it yourself guide? Making your own renewable energy system is actually easier than what most people think.
Even though there are commercial retail models available, they are generally much, much more expensive and will take several years before the cost of investment can be recovered. If you have been thinking about saving energy bills and conserving the environment, you should definitely start thinking about how to get a renewable energy system up and running.
